WEATHER IN GIBRALTAR
Gibraltar is located in the South of Spain, close to the Costa del Sol, which means its climate is mild in the winter and hot in the summer. During the winter time there are also a few rainy days, but usually not more than 9 during any one month. Gibraltar and its surrounding area have approximately 300 days of sunshine per year.
Average temperatures in December, January and February range from 13ºC to 16ºC. Those months are the coldest in the year with chilly winds from the west and north. Snow and frost is very rare.
In March, April and May temperatures rise to between 18ºC and 23ºC. During the summer it can get extremely hot with temperatures from 25ºC to 35ºC. An Atlantic wind protects Gibraltar from the extreme heat which the southern coast of Spain suffers from. It makes Gibraltar a favourite area for tourists from all around the world.
June, July and August are very dry months with winds from the east, which only very occasionally bring clouds. Foggy days are not unusual but normally the sun shines for about 10.5 hours a day for the whole 3 months.
The best time of the year to visit Gibraltar and the South of Spain is in the autumn. September, October and November provide highly enjoyable temperatures between 18ºC and 26ºC. It is the ideal weather to be outdoors without being too hot or too cold.
